Nick Ainsworth, MPSE is a freelance sound designer, re-recording mixer, and music mixer with 18 years of experience and three Emmy nominations. Born and raised in Northern California, he is based in Los Angeles. He studied film and electronic music at the University of California, Santa Cruz before moving to Los Angeles to intern with filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen’s production company. He later became a sound designer for JibJab, creating soundscapes for the StoryBots brand and Emmy-winning Netflix series.
He has worked across Oscar-nominated films, official Sundance selections, prime-time and Emmy-winning television, and UI sound design for popular apps like Duolingo. A Dolby Atmos certified professional, Nick has mixed hundreds of songs for major record labels and specializes in immersive audio for film, television, commercials, music, and technology. He also writes, directs, produces, and hosts videos on immersive audio for Dolby and Pro Sound Effects, and has designed audio experiences for large-scale live events including Netflix House in Dallas and the Brandy and Monica The Boy Is Mine Tour.
Nick uses Electric Ear Studio for Dolby Atmos featuring a 7.1.4 Meyer Bluehorn system.
